ABOUT BELLTOWN FARMS

Belltown Farms owns and operates large scale farms in the US, transitioning land to USDA

certified organic and operating them in line with regenerative principles.

Belltown believes that regenerative farming provides an opportunity to produce healthy food,

while having a positive impact on soil health, biodiversity, carbon emissions and local

communities, as well as delivering compelling financial returns for investors.

Belltown acquired its first farm in 2019 and aims to grow to 100,000 acres by 2029, spread

across the US.

 

THE ROLE WILL INCLUDE:

Belltown is recruiting for a Regional Operations Manager to join the senior management team. As Regional Operations Manager, you will oversee the operations of 3 to 4 of Belltown’s farms, primarily in the Midwest. You will be responsible for the profitable operations on each of the farms, including but not limited to:

· Farming Team: Hiring and managing farm managers and supporting teams for each farming hub; responsible for professional development, culture, quality assurance, health and safety;

· Operating Plan: Working with farm managers to develop detailed operating plans for each farm, covering profitability, transition to organic, people, crop rotation, inputs, fertility, machinery and equipment, activity planning, regulatory reporting, grain storage, and farm safety. Supporting the farm managers to deliver the plan on budget;

· Organic Certification: Supporting each farm achieve and maintain USDA organic certification and other applicable regenerative certifications (e .g. Regenerative Organic Certified, biodynamic) that deliver a premium for Belltown Farms products;

· Regenerative Farming: thought leadership on regenerative approach to farming, across soil health, seed, biodiversity, carbon emissions and community;

· Platform Development: Conducting special projects to support the growth and development of Belltown Farms, including but not limited to strategy development, farm acquisition support, propagating learnings and best practices, and operational systems development;

· Reporting: providing monthly updates on key operational and financial performance of the farms.

 

The role will report to the Chief Farming Officer.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE MUCH OF THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE:

· Experience managing profitable large-scale (1,000s of acres) organic farming operations;

· Ideally, organic farm system experience;

· Enthusiasm for regenerative agriculture;

· Excellent communication skills;

· Demonstrated people-management, communications and influencing skills and the ability to work within a distributed team;

· Comfortable moving from managing detailed field and non-field activities to long term strategic plans;

· Ability to reflect, learn and teach;

· Ability to manage and negotiate large contracts and purchases.
