Belltown Farms Background

Belltown Farms was founded in 2019 as a fund manager focused on the opportunity for regenerative agriculture in the US.  Belltown Farms Fund 1 began acquiring land in 2019 and closed its first fund in 2021 at $125m including co-investment vehicles.  The fund acquires prime US farmland, converts it to organic and farms it regeneratively. The fund is focused on row crop and small grain production, and currently owns and operates 25,000 acres across Illinois, Michigan, Nebraska, Texas, and New York. Belltown Farms aims to grow to $1bn in funds under management and 100,000+ acres by 2030.

Finance Director – Funds

Belltown Farms is recruiting a finance director to oversee all financial and accounting requirements of the fund management business.

Locationheadquarters are in Philadelphia, PA. Position location is flexible. Some travel to farms expected.

Compensation: competitive salary and performance related bonus, plus benefits

The role will include:

  • Reporting: Maintenance and management of accounts for all fund vehicles and capital accounts for all investors
  • Investor Management: Coordination of management of drawdown requests and investor communications;
  • Budgeting: Preparation of annual budget for fund vehicles, liaising with the investment and farming operations team
  • Corporate Management: Set up and management of investment entities for domestic, international and 1031 exchange investors
  • Tax Management: Liaising with external accountants for tax filings and timely and accurate preparation and distribution of K1s to all investors
  • Regulatory filings: preparation of fund filings with the SEC and FCA
  • Audits: coordinating annual audit of all fund vehicles
  • Growth: Supporting the management team in raising fund 2 and beyond
  • Commercial Support: Supporting the management team in fund exit and refinancings

The ideal candidate will have some or all of the following experience:

  • 5+ years as a qualified accountant
  • Experience with fund management and partnership accounting
  • Diligent, thorough, and well organized
  • Familiarity with real estate, infrastructure, or farmland financing
  • Enthusiasm for sustainability
